January New Letter 2016

January is a busy month in physical education.  We will be completing many of our spring assessments for all grades.  In addition we will be having our 22 annual American Heart Association " Jump Rope For Heart" event. I always tell the kids that this is a wonderful opportunity to raise money to benefit people other than ourselves.  What a great life lesson!!  Our event will be conducted during class, the 3rd week of January.  Fundraising envelopes will be given out right after break.  If you would like to get a jump start, you can register to do online fundraising by going to this web link:

Many of our big bigger units are in January.  Traverse wall climbing, and cross country skiing for the 4th-5th grade are just a few of them.  4th-5th grade students should remember that they can cross country ski only if they have proper clothing (snow pants, jacket, hat, and gloves/mittens).

As we move into December, many things are happening in all physical education classes:

5th grade - rope intermediate and advanced rope jumping skills, 1st rope climb, create a fitness plan,  take home activity log

We are also offering a chance to get an online jump on our fundraising for the American Heart Association.  For the 22nd year, Monroe Elementary students will have the opportunity to raise money and jump rope for hear in January.  This is a chance to teach our students about raising money to help others.  Often times our kids are doing fundraising to get something for a sports team, school, or other clubs.  This is a chance to raise money to help others in a profound way.  envelopes will be sent home the first week of January, but you can follow this link to join the Monroe online fundraising campaign.

Just slick on "Join Team" by my name at the bottom of the page to get started.  There is absolutely no obligation to raise money.  This is totally voluntary.  Thanks for your support!
